(2018)
Human First is a socially conscious work created for Ballet Memphis’ fall performance, Perspectives. The piece explores the complex realities of homelessness, examining both the often-dismissive perspectives that label people as “bums” and the human stories behind their circumstances. Through movement, the choreography challenges assumptions, amplifies voices that are too often ignored, and advocates for empathy and understanding. By shifting the narrative, Human First asks audiences to see beyond stigma and recognize the shared humanity in every individual.
