Partita

Partita was a composition assignment for Karley’s second year at UNCSA, designed as a rigorous exploration of movement and structure. With detailed instructions for each segment, the project challenged dancers to construct a cohesive piece almost like solving a mathematical equation—reversing movements, shifting between floor work and jumps, isolating arms or legs, and manipulating speed and dynamics. The work combined multiple compositional essences into a single, intricate study, all set to the same soundtrack: Partita No. 5 in G Major, BWV 829: I. Praeambulum and IV. Sarabande (2015 Remastered Version).
